Global Warming

The problem of global warming is getting more and more topical nowadays, especially when the weather is unseasonably hot, cold, wet or dry.

The exact causes are not yet known. Some scientists believe that global warming is a part of the natural cycle as temperatures also changed a lot during past centuries. Some experts even think that in the near future the Earth will get a lot colder again.

However, most scientists agree that global temperatures are increasing. They have already gone up by 1 degree in the last hundred years. And if we don't change our ways, then temperatures will continue to rise.

But what can we do about it? I have some obvious suggestions. Firstly, we need to cut down on the amount of energy we use, for example, by turning electrical equipment off when we aren't using it and putting a sweater when we feel cold instead of turning the heating up.

Secondly, we can reduce the amount of wasted energy by buying locally produced foods instead of the goods that travel huge distances before they end up on our tables. As a result, it can save us hidden energy costs and reduce air pollution.

In addition, to reduce air pollution we can walk or cycle or, at least, use public transport when we need to cover short distances instead of driving cars.

Moreover, we can create wildlife habitats and plant trees that help to remove carbon dioxides from the atmosphere and release oxygen.

Thus, global warming is a topical problem nowadays, and following the advice, we can contribute to protecting our Earth from it.
